Meghan Maggiore, the Renaissance woman.
At least, that's the title I like to bestoy upon myself.
A native New Orleanian, I've seen laziness, tragedy, and drunkeness (sometimes all in the same evening). I was very active in high school, paticipating in dance team, swim team, chorus, speech and debate, musical theater, etc. At Northwestern I am the novice women's co-captain of the rowing team, I am a freshman in Medill, and I plan to become a magazine writer. I'm also majoring in Italian so that I can one day live and work in Italy.
Why Foucault, you may ask. Good question...I'll let you know when I have the answer. College is all about expanding one's ideas about the world and broadening one's general knowledge in hopes of becoming a better informed citizen, right? If you think you have the world figured out already, you're either extremely arrogant or severely stupid. Seeing other people's perspectives on the way the world, or certain aspects of the world, works is a tool in discovering my own view of things. Reading others thoughts forces me to decide my opinion on the matter and not only whether I agree or disagree. I look forward to doing some "personal construction" of my own in the next few weeks.
This is the beginning of my story...batten down the hatches!
